If we receive a shortfall upon receiving a foreign currency, the amount of funds received after bank charges will be credited to your account in your new currency.

Payments out

When we make payments out on behalf of our clients, some countries charge to receive the currency and this can be as much as £18.50. VFX Financial will ensure all currency payments are sent with a capped fee of £15 per transaction.

1. Business forward rates

With forward rates, you can keep today’s exchange rate for the future. A deposit is put down as part of the contract and when the time for payment comes, we can supply the currency at the agreed exchange rate, regardless of how rates have changed in the meantime.

Forward rates not only help you preserve a favourable rate, but help you avoid risk, and to plan knowing what rate you’ll get when the time for your transfer comes round.

2. Types of trades
Spot Contracts

A spot contract is undertaken when you buy currency at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of the transaction and make the payment within two working days. This transaction is typically used for deposit payments on property or for full payment if the funds to pay for the transaction are available.

Forward Currency Contracts

A forward contract is undertaken when you fix the exchange rate now for a specific date from one to twenty four months in the future. To guarantee the exchange rate, private clients will have to pay for at least 10% of the value straight away (a margin deposit) and the balance on or before the maturity of the contract.

Time-option Forward Contracts

You may also reserve a time-option forward contract. This contract allows greater flexibility in paying.

Limit Orders

Limit Orders enable clients to set the rate at that which they would like to exchange their currency. VFX will monitor the market for you and if the rate can be achieved, we will purchase the currency on your behalf. We would then notify you of the due date for your payment. This is particularly important for contracts of substantial value where a small currency fluctuation may have huge implications.

Swaps allow you to change the value date of a contract to a different date. It could be a change of a few days or a few months, it’s not a problem. Swaps are only available on the "Dealer +" platform, or directly through our dealers.

Our FX system will send you an SMS or an email when a specified currency rate is available to be traded. You set the level, and our system will monitor the market for you 24/7.
